Human toothpaste is not recommended for dogs

How do wild dogs keep from developing gum disease?
The difference is primarily in the food they eat. Wild dogs are active, hunting for food, and spend lots of time gnawing and chewing on fresh meat – this helps their teeth stay healthy and clean.
Dogs that are domesticated typically sleep a lot more and with closed mouths. During this prolonged sleep, fresh air is not moving around gums/teeth – this encourages bacteria growth.
