Do not cook them in the microwave. Putting them under the heat of the microwave will destroy the essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals in the food. Studies conducted by scientists showed that humans who consumed microwave-cooked foods, experience significant and disturbing changes in their blood structure. Using the microwave for food preparation had caused several serious side-effects, one of which is the conversion of available minerals in vegetables into cancer-causing free-radicals.
Do not use broth cubes in their foods. Some recipes had advocated the use of beef or chicken buillon cubes, or canned chicken and beef broths. These kinds of ingredients contain a high level of sodium which is unhealthy not just for humans, but for dogs as well. So, if you want to use some bouillon, you should rather make your own or something that a reduced amount of sodium.
Choose your flours. Flour, is an important ingredient in making biscuits. It helps bind the biscuits together. When making these, you can substitute white, cornmeal, or wheat flours with spelt flour. This kind of flour is easier for your dog’s digestion, and for humans, too. Cornmeal and wheat are a bit harder to digest and may trigger some allergic reactions in your dog.
Go for uncooked and natural treats. When giving treats for your pet, prefer those which are not baked or those that make use of cornmeal and wheat flour.
