DOG WORMS: How To Treat Them

Round worms and tape worms are the principal worm species that dog owners have to contend against. Round worms are lighter, almost white or pale pink. These worms in large dogs, when full grown are from three to seven inches long. They are half that length in puppies. They live in small intestines, sometimes intertwined to obstruct the passage, and occasionally they wander through the stomach and are exit through bowel.

When a dog is infected with this kind of worm, millions of eggs will be passed with the waste discharge. These eggs then scatter all over the floor, bedding, trash bins, beddings. And they are licked off and swallowed in a lot of ways, making their entrance to the digestive region of other dogs where its life cycle will again process and will become fully developed in just a matter of ten days.

The belief that dogs get these worms from their mother who has it is not true. They disregard the fact that the mother, confined in a house full with developed round worms would get these eggs attached to her body and the young, as soon as born, would take these eggs into their digestive system when the mother feeds them with milk.

Pups with worms are susceptible to paralysis of their limbs that could kill them.
