Dog Joint Problems

The vast majority of dog joint problems come in the form of osteoarthritis disease. Almost every dog, as they age, will develop arthritis to some extent. Larger dogs orheavier dogs will oftentimes develop the joint problems earlier and have more severe issues with the disease thendo smaller breed dogs.

Symptoms of dog joint problems are often seen as the dog ages and has trouble doing the things they did while younger. Some of these things could be trouble climbing stairs, jumping up or down off of the bed or furniture, or having trouble rising from a sitting position. When these conditions are seen in your canine friend, it's important to take him or her to the veterinarian for a full check up in order to diagnose exactly what the problem is.

It is said that dog joint problems are one of the most seen conditions in the vet's office. Just like in humans, arthritis is a problem with our canine four-legged friends also.

There are two possible courses of action when treating dog joint problems. The first, and most popularized solution is to give them prescription drugs. Often times this course of treatment is highly effective in treating the dogs pain caused from their joint problems. However, these prescribed medications offer no long-term fixes for the joint issues. They simply mask the pain caused by the osteoarthritis.

On the other hand, the other treatment option involves natural supplement products such as glucosamine. These products when used to treat joint problems in dogs are almost 100% safe with zero side effects. Additionally, they are quite inexpensive compared to other medications that may be prescribed by the veterinarian.

It's important to remember however when using natural supplements to treat dog joint problems that you will not see immediate effects or benefits when using them. These natural supplements eight in ensuring long-term joint health and don't simply stop the pain immediately. Often times it will take many weeks before any progress is seen in fighting the disease. It's important for dog owners to understand the importance of going the course with these products and give them time to work in rebuilding the tissue which was damaged due to the arthritis disease.

Younger dogs rarely suffer from any dog joint problems, but it is possible to have genetic issues that cause the onset of diseases at an earlier age. If your younger dog experiences any of the above symptoms be sure and take him or her to the veterinarian also for a full check up. It's important to note a natural supplementation products do not normally work as well and younger dogs who have these genetic problems. In these cases the prescription medications are often the only course of action one can take when treating the joint problems and dogs.

Dog joint problems were one of the most common afflictions that dogs suffer from. Pet owners should do their research and learn as much as they possibly can about the diseases that cause these issues. There are many online resources available to educate one about the causes and treatments for these joint issues.
