Some dog breeds like pit bull or bull terriers do not like being handled. They should know that you are entitled to treat him for his own good. Be careful when your dog gets wounded because open wounds can lead to infection. Prevent that from happening by giving your dog a little of your attention by simply checking on him after an activity.

Furry dogs often suffer from ticks. Ticks have crablike legs that make them hold on. The home remedy in removing ticks is quite easy and simple – petroleum jelly. Remove the tick by putting a big lump of petroleum jelly over the area where it has attached itself. Leave it for at least five to ten minutes and wipe it out of the way with a tissue. The trick is to lose the tick’s grip.

For ear mites, place two drops of corn oil into its ears. You may use an eye dropper. Gently massage the ear then clean it with a cotton ball. The corn oil will suffocate the mites. Do this for three consecutive days. Cleaning your dog’s ears with oil is recommended by vets to avoid buildup of wax and dirt.

For a constipated dog, add three to four tablespoons of mineral oil to his food. You may use this for large breed dogs. Reduce the dose to one to two teaspoons for small breed dogs. Do this for two consecutive days.

For diarrhea, mix one heaped teaspoon of carob powder with little water and mix it with your dog’s dinner food. Use half a teaspoon for puppies.

For urinary tract infections or UTI, mix into your pet’s food 30-40 mL of cranberry juice. It must reduce bacteria and help relieve the discomfort because it will boost the acidity of the urine.
